Reflection

Over the course of this English class, I learned a great amount about what a blog post actually is. It was interesting to me to search the internet for nearly any topic and receive numerous posts about it. It was quite a relief when our teacher told us to throw away all of the strict rules we had learned about writing into high school and to view it differently. From week to week, I actually got to spend time creating my own blog posts and hyperlinking other blog posts into my writings. If I had to choose three of my most liked topics to reflect on, they would be Blog Post #2, 4, and 5.

In the second blog post, I had to compose a post with the topic of “Why College?” The assignment was to express my opinion on why I think it is important to go to college. For me, I never really took the time to think about it. I was raised with no option on whether or not I would attend college. I really had to sit down and think about why I even went to college. For this assignment, I think many people have different opinions on whether or not college is right for them. I thought it was interesting to read other classmates posts and compare them to mine to help me with future blog posts. This was my first blog post and I do believe week by week I could reflect on it to see how I was improving in my writing.

During the Fourth blog post, I had to write on the topic of “Is College (good) Enough?” I decided to add a picture to not make the post so tiresome. Some type of media always adds interest into a page full of words. Also, I was able to associate other blog posts related to my topic into my post. For an example, one of the posts that I used in my writing had many statistics and I was able to use some statistical information related to my topic. At first, I wrote this post and did not give it the revision it needed so when we had the chance to revise any blog post, I chose this one. I believe that this blog post was one of my strongest after the revisions.

In my fifth blog post, I had to find and read a passage from the book Share or Die. Once we found one that caught our interest, we had to compose a blog post with our opinion about it. I found this post to be the most interesting to me. It was amusing to read about different stories that have happened to college graduates. I actually took this assignment as a preparation for the “real world” or the life after college. In this post, I was able to interpret the author’s words into my post. This post was definitely the easiest post where I could put my thoughts about her real life situation into words.

This class has really taught me a bunch. Before this class I had never read a blog, wrote a blog, and let alone knew what a blog was. I think blogging is very useful in today’s society, which has been very dependent on technology and social media. It was a great opportunity to learn more about social media and how to apply it to our lives, in a positive way. I look forward to using this helpful information, I learned though out this course, in the future.
